We regularly perform testings of nitrogen oxide (NOx), particulate matter (PM) generated with production to ensure that we minimize the environmental and community impacts.

Air Pollutants Preventive Measures
We use the natural gas-fired boilers for our manufacturing operation; therefore, no sulfur oxide (SOx) emissions. The particulate matter, PM, created from the production processes were collected and filtered by the cyclone separator before the discharge, and regular emission tests are carried out and monitored.
  • In 2023, we emitted 19.86 tons of particulate matter, marking a 10.7% reduction from the 22.24 tons emitted in 2022. Nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions totaled 2.712 tons in 2023, showing an 8.22% decrease from 2.955 tons in 2022.
  • In 2023, two environmental violations occurred: the Shalu plant exceeded the regulatory standard for surrounding odor emissions, resulting in a fine of NT$246,000.
  • The Lukang Tian Chung plant violated regulations by failing to complete the reuse of collected waste within the specified timeframe, resulting in a fine of NT$12,000.
  • In response to the odor emission violation, we actively collaborated with the National Taipei University of Technology to enhance the treatment and monitoring of odor pollutants. We invested NT$3.04 million in additional odor treatment equipment and NT$1.78 million in upgrades to production process equipment and maintenance of cyclone separators.
Wastewater Preventive Measures
We have established strict operational standards for wastewater treatment equipment and ensure regular maintenance. These standards are also promptly updated in accordance with regulatory changes.

Each plant has each own treatment procedures:
  1. Shalu Plant: Wastewater generated from our processes undergoes treatment at the wastewater treatment facility before being discharged. We also engage a third-party accredited agency to regularly inspect the water quality to ensure compliance with discharge standards.
  2. Other plants and Charming Food: Wastewater is treated according to Industrial Park wastewater processing standards and relevant discharge regulations before being discharged into the Industrial Park wastewater treatment system.
In 2023, Charming Food was fined NT$103,000 for a sewage overflow caused by a malfunctioning collection tank motor, violating the Water Pollution Control Act.
We promptly repaired the motor, provided environmental training for employees, strengthened education and training, and implemented daily inspections to ensure the motor's proper operation. Additionally, we maintain documentation to prevent future incidents.

Waste Management
We adhere to the specifications of the 'Solid Waste Management Plan' to ensure proper management of all industrial waste generated across our plants. Waste is initially sorted and classified according to regulatory requirements, then entrusted to qualified waste management companies for transportation and reporting. We also conduct periodic tracking to monitor the final disposal of waste.
