We adopted ISO 45001 & TOSHMS, Taiwan Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems, to create a safe workplace and our goal is to reduce occupational hazards. We have established a Safety and Health Committee to overlook workplace and occupational safety. The committee meets regularly to discuss occupational safety suggestions and the coordination and management of various related plans to ensure the proper functioning of the management system.
We also conduct training on "Chemical Classification Management and Exposure Assessment Practices" to enable related workers to better assess the risk levels involved when dealing with hazardous chemicals. Moreover, in compliance with regulations, to prevent workplace misconduct and infringement, we have revised the "Preventive Action from Unlawful Attacks in the Execution of Duties" policy and we also administer a questionnaire, the "Self-Assessment Checklist for Workplace Misconduct" to first-line supervisors to ensure the safety and well-being of the employees under their supervision.

According to Ministry of Labor, the statistical analysis of occupational accidents, 47% of the total accidents are falling accidents, indicating its severity. To address this issue, we hired professional instructors to organize a "Fall Prevention and Safety Protection" hands-on activity. This activity allows employees to experience VR simulations of fall prevention and proper use of protective gear, thereby effectively improve their ability to take adequate actions when accident occurs. Furthermore, for employees working in outdoor and indoor heat environment, we provide drinking water, electrolyte –containing beverages and edible table salt to remain hydrated.

This measure airms to prevent heat-related illness.

Fire Safety Training
Each year, we invite the firefighters of the Fire Bureau of Taichung City to hold a fire prevention training course and conduct an on-site fire drill. The training included learning about the application of fire extinguishers, understanding the different types of fire, planning primary emergency escape routes and contingency routes, fire prevention, and crisis management. A hands-on experience, to allow the employees to act efficiently at a fire scene.

We assess and evaluate the causes of accidents and offer corrective plans to improve and reduce occupational accidents from happening.
Total work hours in 2023 were 1,050,392 hours. There were 3 occupational accidents (3 workers): 2 incidents of hazardous substance; 1 fall incident. The above accidents caused a loss of 53 workdays as temporary total disability. In 2023, no accidents occurred to our independent contractors while contracted by our company.
We will continue to implement various occupational safety and health management measures to create a safe and friendly working environment for our employees, promoting a win-win relationship between labor and management.

Premium Annual Physical Examination
To prioritize employee health, we conduct annual premium health check-ups exceeding regulatory requirements.  All employees at our food and pet food plants undergo food handling operation inspections, along with specialized checks for noise exposure, n-hexane operations, and airborne dust exposures.  Additionally, a contracted occupational medicine physician visits our facilities for three hours each month to provide health consultations.
In December 2023, employees at the Shalu plant, Taichung Harbor plant, and Taipei Business Center underwent their annual physical examinations. In April and May 2023, employees at the Lukang and Kaohsiung plants also underwent health check-ups. If any significant abnormalities are detected, we arrange follow-up examinations to confirm the findings and assist with necessary treatments.

Our contracted occupational medicine physicians manage health check results, focusing on cardiovascular high-risk cases, maternal health, musculoskeletal high-risk conditions, and workplace misconduct.

In 2023, 11 individuals were identified as high-risk for cardiovascular issues, and 3 required maternal health consultations, for whom we provided lifestyle and workplace health information.

6 employees identified as high-risk for musculoskeletal issues received guidance on correct posture and stretching exercises. Physicians also conducted site visits to assess specific work environments and provide improvement recommendations.

Abnormal health check results are classified and managed accordingly, with 62 individuals receiving care. Following intervention, 12 individuals saw a decrease of one to two levels in their abnormal classification.

To bring awareness and improve the health of employees, we organize the "Weight Loss" challenge.
The challenge started in September 2022 and ended in November 2022, with 35 participants. We offered seminars with a nutritionist providing related information about diet and exercise. 46% of the participants attended the seminars. Throughout this challenge, a total decrease of 15.5% in body fat and a total weight loss of 52.3 kg were achieved. Cash prizes were awarded to the top three participants who achieved the most weight loss and provided water bottles and company product vouchers for all the participants.
